Executive Functions are the higher level cognitive processes that develop over time, from infancy into young adulthood when the brain matures and the pre-frontal cortex has been formed.

There is some debate regarding how many executive functions used in adulthood. The 10 I will reference on this website and provide information about are:

Impulse Control

Working Memory

Cognitive Flexibility

Task Inititiation

Planning and Prioritisation

Organisation

Time Management

Goal setting

Emotional control

Transitioning

Ability to Focus
