Tim and Sian are the father daughter duo that make Sing Move Regulate come to life. Not only are they creative free thinkers, they are musically gifted and bring intention and passion to the program, both keen to see early intervention become part of a model in education that meets all needs! I asked what early intervention meant to Tim and Sian, and why they believed it was important, here are their responses:
Tim - Early intervention is essential to a child's development. The importance of role modelling & raising children's awareness of how their body's feel and how those around them feel is something we all need everyday. Supporting this growth through song, movement and intentional learning is great place to start.
Sian - Meeting children at important life stages and providing them with practical skills they need to engage with the world around them - this is the value I see in early intervention programs like Sing Move Regulate. Creating fun, safe spaces for children to explore their feelings and curiosity by engaging with us in meaningful music and movement activities. When children can explore their self-understanding and understanding of the world around them they can begin to mindfully communicate their needs and feelings. These skills become the invaluable tools they take away with them and build upon, over their lifetime. That is what early intervention provides, and why it's so important.
Tim and Sian have both advocates for the non-violent communication framework and understand the important role that authentic communication plays in meeting needs. I am grateful beyond words to not only have them in the program but also in my life, as genuine humans showing up to meet the needs of my children, and me.
